Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-05-07
The Adventure Society LLC ("we," "us," or "our") operates this website and the Deal-i$h Dining mobile application (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Information we collect
1.1 Information you provide directly
- Account information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and (if you choose email/password sign-up) a password. Authentication is handled by Google Firebase Authentication. We never see or store your password directly.
- Dietary profile: Restrictions, preferences, dislikes, cuisines, household size, and cooking skill level. This data is stored only on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.
- Location: A city, state, ZIP code, or GPS coordinates that you provide during onboarding. Used to find nearby grocery deals. Stored only on your device.
1.2 Information generated by your use of the Service
- Meal plans, recipes, and shopping lists: Generated based on your preferences and stored locally on your device. We do not retain copies.
- Recipe interactions: Likes, dislikes, favorites, and items checked off in shopping lists. Stored locally.
- Subscription status: If you purchase a subscription, your tier (free, trial, monthly, annual) is managed by Google Play or the Apple App Store. We receive a status indicator from those platforms but do not have access to your payment details.
1.3 Automatically collected information
- Device information: Operating system version, app version, and approximate device type. Used for diagnostics and crash reporting.
- Usage analytics: Anonymous, aggregated information about how the app is used (e.g., which features are most common). No personally identifying information is included.
- Advertising identifiers: If you use the free tier with ads, Google AdMob may collect a non-personally-identifying advertising ID for ad serving. You can reset this ID at any time in your device's privacy settings.
2. How we use information
- To provide and maintain the Service
- To authenticate your account
- To generate meal plans, recipes, and shopping lists tailored to your preferences (using your locally-stored data; we never copy your preferences to our servers for this purpose)
- To diagnose technical issues and improve the app
- To communicate with you about your account, support requests, or material changes to the Service
- To serve relevant ads (free tier only)
3. Third-party services
The Service uses the following third-party providers. Each operates under its own privacy policy:
- Google Firebase Authentication — handles user sign-in. Firebase Privacy
- Google Gemini API — generates recipe and deal suggestions from anonymous prompts. We send your dietary restrictions, preferences, and approximate location to Gemini in order to generate relevant content. We do not include your name, email, or other directly identifying information. Gemini Terms
- Google AdMob — serves ads in the free tier. AdMob Privacy
- Google Play / Apple App Store — handles app distribution and in-app purchases. Subject to their respective privacy policies.
4. Where your data is stored
The majority of your personal data — meal plans, dietary profile, location preferences, recipe interactions, and shopping lists — is stored locally on your device using encrypted local storage (MMKV). It does not leave your device unless you explicitly choose to back it up (a feature coming in a future release).
Account credentials (email and authentication tokens) are stored by Google Firebase Authentication, which operates servers in the United States and other regions consistent with Google's infrastructure.
5. Data sharing and disclosure
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We do not share your locally-stored meal plans, preferences, or shopping lists with anyone, ever — we don't have access to that data ourselves.
We may disclose information if required by law, in response to a valid legal process (subpoena, court order), or to protect the rights, safety, or property of The Adventure Society, our users, or the public.
6. Your choices and rights
6.1 Access and deletion
Because most of your data lives on your device, you can delete it at any time by uninstalling the app — your meal plans, preferences, and shopping lists go with it.
To delete your account credentials (the Firebase Authentication record): use the Delete Account option in the app's Profile screen, or contact us at hello@adventuresocietybranch.com. Account deletion is permanent and processed within 30 days.
6.2 California residents (CCPA)
You have the right to request access to, deletion of, or correction of personal information we hold about you. Submit a request to hello@adventuresocietybranch.com. We will respond within 45 days.
6.3 EU residents (GDPR)
You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection regarding your personal data. The lawful basis for our processing is performance of a contract (providing you the Service you signed up for) and our legitimate interest in operating and improving the Service. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
7. Children's privacy
The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that a child has provided us personal information, we will delete it promptly. Parents who believe a child has used the Service may contact us.
8. Security
We use industry-standard security measures, including encrypted local storage and TLS for any data in transit. However, no security measure is perfect, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Use the Service at your own risk.
9. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes will be communicated through the Service or by email when we have an account email on file.
